Matheran, Mumbai

Matheran means forest on top. It is the smallest hill station in India but probably no less in natural beauty. It is located 108 kms in distance from Mumbai. One can easily reach Matheran by hiring private taxis or by taking buses from Mumbai. Matheran was found in the year 1850 by Hugh Poyntz Malet the then collector of Thane district.
Charlotte Lake is the prime attraction of Matheran in addition to Malet Spring, Panthers' Caves, Paymaster Park, Towers of Bhivpuri Power House, Karjat Palasdari Lake, Borgaon Village and Rambaug Point, Alexander Point, Mount Berry, Luisa Point, Echo Point, One tree Hill, Garbut Point, Olympia Racecourse and Hart point.
It s a nice getaway from the city life by organizing a small trip to Matheran.
